Edward Balderamos fondly known as Eddie joined the insurance industry forty years ago and has been a member of CARAIFA for Twenty Four (24) of those years.
In 1975 Eddie opened Jamaica Mutual Life in Belize and managed it successfully for six years accomplishing major and numerous awards. In 1981 he returned to the Cayman Islands to accept a position as an Insurance Broker he again effectively and efficiently carved a path that spiralled him into another firm where his tenure was for nine (9) years.
His entrepreneurial skills became evident when he opened Balderamos Insurance Services (Belize) Limited in 2008. Eddie has blazed a trail of service par excellence in the Life, Health, Property and Casualty business within the industry over the years with an unbeatable track record.
Education is one of the keys to success and Eddie propelled himself into this area of his career with the completion of several courses such as the LUATC course and LIMRA management courses. He garnered knowledge through seminars, congresses and kept abreast of emerging trends in the financial arena. This deep seated belief in Education made him the first Education Chair of the Life Underwriters Association of Cayman from that association’s inception until 2005. Eddie was the first president of the Life Underwriters Association of Cayman (LUAC) and was the Treasurer for a protracted period of time. This unique and special individual was the Life Underwriters Association of Cayman (LUAC) representative on CARAIFA’s board for many, many years giving yeoman’s service to both associations simultaneously. This individual as a representative on CARAIFA’s board paid his way to every single meeting from his pocket wherever in the Caribbean these meetings were held.
This is a true gentleman with a penchant for comedy with volunteerism and philanthropy as the centrality of his being. He gives back to his community in a tangible way by his involvement in the Rotary Club of Grand Cayman and anonymous donations to worthy causes. He is a platinum contributor to the CARAIFA foundation, not once but twice and counting. He is also a Past Vice President of the Belize Volunteer Blood Donor Service and Past Chair of the Cayman Islands Volunteer Blood Donor Service.
It is an honour and privilege to present this stalwart – Mr. Edward W. Balderamos, CARAIFA Hall of Fame inductee 2012.
