Financial Services Specialist (FSS)

Financial Services Specialist (FSS)

For new agents the Financial Services Specialist designation provides practical sales skills and introductory-level technical knowledge to help advance your career.

For experienced advisors, these courses offer current knowledge on a wide range of products and services to help you explore new markets, retain your client relationship and compete for a larger share of their business.
 
Earning a FSS Designation

All courses (classroom format) earn 60 designation credits upon successful completion*. The completion of an ethics course is a requirement of all FSS designees. After completing the LUTCF course requirements in order to attain the FSS designation you are required to do:

 

·          262 - Foundations of Financial Planning: An Overview

·          263 - Foundations of Financial Planning: The Process

·          264 - Foundations of Investment Planning

 
OR
 
Persons eligible to do the FSS without doing the LUTCF designation but are hodlers of CLU and/or ChFC designation are are required to do the following:
 

·          262 - Foundations of Financial Planning: An Overview

·          263 - Foundations of Financial Planning: The Process

·          264 - Foundations of Investment Planning

·          290 - Ethics for Financial Services Professional

 
Other individuals approved by the Education Management Council are required to do the following: 

·          262 - Foundations of Financial Planning: An Overview

·          263 - Foundations of Financial Planning: The Process
·          290 - Ethics for Financial Services Professional
 
and THREE (3)  electives from the options below:

 

·          201 - Techniques for Exploring Personal Markets
·          202 - Techniques for Meeting clients needs
·          211 - Essentials of Disability Income Insurance
·          251 - Essentials of Business Insurance

·          261 - Foundations of Retirement Planning

·          FA 200 Techniques for Prospecting: Prospect or Perish 

 
N.B.-
·          The 262 course MUST be completed before the 263 course
 
 Passing Requirement:
 
Attendance
  • Students may be absent from no more than 2 regularly scheduled classes.

Examination:

  • The student must achieve a score of at least 70 percent on the final examination.

Final Grade:

  • The final grade must be at least 70 percent.  The final grade is determined by averaging your examination grade with the moderator's grade.  The moderator's grade is an average of the grades you earned for class participation and written assignments.

Course Length:

8 weeks

 

Continuing Education (CE credits):

To maintain the LUTCF and FSS designations all designees are required to earn 30 CE credits each calendar year starting January 1, 2006 to December 31st, 2007. Students who already have attained their LUTCF designation before this period will be put in this first period. Click here for more details.
