Course Description
A CLU is a Financial Advisors with advanced knowledge in Health and Life Insurance and also Employee Benefits. There are no pre-requisites involved in registering for the CLU programme. Students may enrol in this programme through CARAIFA following pre-established steps that includes their local associations.
Course Format
Course 231 – Financial Planning Fundamentals
Course 232 – Contemporary Practices in Financial Planning
Course 233 – Comprehensive Practices in Risk & Retirement Planning
Course 234 - Wealth Management and Estate Planning
Course 235 – Advanced Taxation
Course 236 – Law
Course 237 – Applied Estate Planning
Please Note – Courses 231, 232, 233 and 234 are CFP courses. Upon completion of these four (4) courses, students may opt to do the CFP 230, which is a comprehensive exam of 231, 232, 233 and 234 courses. Students who successfully complete the CFP230 will receive a CFP Certificate NOT a CFP Designation
Students are then required to complete 235, 236 and 237 to complete the CLU educational programme. Upon successful completion of the CLU programme, students will then be required to apply for the authorization to use the CLU Designation. Maintaining Advocis membership is an ongoing requirement for the CLU designation. CLU advisors WILL BE REQUIRED to re-apply annually for the continued right to use the CLU designation. The CLU designation is subject to an annual professional fee.
CLU courses are offered in

Pass Requirements
The CLU programme is designed for completion on a self-study basis. Success therefore, depends in large part on your ability to discipline yourself.
To successfully complete a CLU course, you must obtain an examination grade of at least 60%. Students who miss the exam or are not successful in the first writing of the examination, but achieve a exam grade of at least 40%, may apply to write the supplemental examination at its next available sitting only, for a fee. Students who fail the supplemental examination or fail the regular examination with a grade of less than 40% may re-enroll in the course at a cost, given that new course material is not required. Proof of performance
Students who successfully complete the course subjects, and meet the conditions prescribed by CARAIFA, will receive a diploma.
